RESEARCH, DATA SCIENCE, & DATA COMMUNICATION

Our Research Activation is centered around the transformative power of research as the foundation for world-changing work.

Many members of our incredible advisory board are leaders in academic fields that depend on the skillful use of data to answer questions that help motivate our action. We believe that moving the needle forward towards health equity and environmental justice requires us to communicate our novel and compiled research in visually and verbally accessible ways.

Conducting academic research on these topics is a privilege that we hope to make accessible to interested folx. We want to highlight that young people have a critical role in the research portion of this work, and we hope to assist more amazing youth to get involved in cutting-edge research on topics at the intersection of human health, health equity, health policy, environmental policy, environmental health, environmental science, environmental chemistry and other aligned areas.

SPOTLIGHT PROJECT

Air Pollution and COVID-19 Outcomes

Marginalized communities confront the worst of poor air quality on both a long-term and short-term basis. Especially when the Environmental Protection Agency under the Trump Administration has been using the pandemic to issue rollbacks of air quality protection laws, understanding the intersection between air pollution and COVID-19 outcomes—as well as areas for future research—is of the utmost importance.

This pre-print was co-authored by part of Team Avritah (Anushka Bhaskar and Jay Chandra) with the guidance of and contributions from the incredible Avritah Advisory Board Member Dr. Francesca Dominici of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
